Canadian R&B singer Ashton Simmonds, or Daniel Caesar as he’s more famously known, started off his music career by independently releasing EP’s such as Pilgrims Paradise and Praise Break. Daniel Caesar quite simply sounds like what falling in love feels like. His songs are soft, sensual, and sweet while incorporating sounds that create a layered and complex scape of voice and emotion.

After staying under the radar for the most part, Caesar released Get You, a stunning collaboration with Kali Uchis, and surpassed 10,000 plays on Apple Music. Following this, he released the rest of his 10 track album, Freudian making for the most successful project of his career to date and gaining the adoration of millions. He described this album as a glossy rendition of “the inception to the death of the most intense relationship of my life” on Apple Music’s Up Next series.

Daniel Caesar’s sound is dynamic in the sense that it isn’t only about him or the people he’s featuring but the complicated feelings he’s both expressing and evoking. He describes falling in love, falling out of love, and the entirety of the human experience in ways that transcend vocals and instrumentals. For his first tour he’s traveling to 9 states, 8 countries and 35 cities sharing this gift with audiences everywhere.

Accompanying Daniel Caesar on his tour is, Stockhold- born, LA- based artist Snoh Aalegra. She just released her debut album Feels on October 19th of this year which includes hit single,  “Nothing Burns Like The Cold” featuring VInce Staples and “Sometimes” featuring Logic. Additionally, Aalegra’s voice was sampled on Drake’s hit track “More Life”.

Her voice, similar to Caesar’s, is beautifully soulful and rich. I’m anticipating it will be a stunning start to Friday’s show.
