In a lot of ways, Two Feet’s music mirrors a lot of the patterns that seem to turn up in an addicting but ultimately toxic relationship.

Bill Dress, better known by his musical alias Two Feet, is a twenty-something Harlem-based producer/singer/songwriter who produces electronica-rock songs with dark-yet-relatable lyrics and overwhelmingly sexy vibes. He’s been shocking the music scene since 2016, when he first released his aptly titled track, “Go F**k Yourself.”

The song is beautiful and addicting to listen to, with heavy bass riffs, repetitive, trance-like vocal patterns, and lyrics that carry like both a love song and a diss track. In the song, Dress’ ethereal voice brings us the image of a couple who “f**ked and drank all night; acted all alright; had no need to fight; tonight, tonight,” but then, “play these little games; cast me [Dress] far away; acted all OK, today, today.” The lyrics are simple, but guttural and visceral. Anyone who has a reason to be angry at anyone, especially an ex or a past lover, will identify with the anger, but also the emotion, in Two Feet’s music.

The song is somewhat of an anthem for anyone who’s been heartbroken or even pissed off at an old flame, and not on a small scale, either. On Spotify alone, the song has amassed 65,000,000+ listens.

His music, with chilling blues guitar, his raspy voice, and intense bass and electronic influence, will give you a head rush from all the power and emotion contained within the few-minute intervals of his songs. It will make you want to delete the number of everyone who’s ever done you wrong in your contact list, everyone who’s ever carved a place out in your heart and left it empty… (but it low-key makes you want to send that “u up?” text to most of them).

That’s because Two Feet’s music represents something relatable, but not quite admirable, but something that’s still a pretty universal experience for most of us: a relationship of which we are not proud. Whether it’s a one-night-stand that developed into more than that, an ex who we know isn’t good for us but who we just can’t shake, or even an unrequited crush who we know we need to move on from. Dress’ music inspires nostalgia for all these feelings… but also, comes with an underlying edge of anger, confidence, and bada** resilience.

With an energy like edgier, angrier Chet Faker and a commanding stage presence, Two Feet’s stop in Seattle isn’t something you want to miss. He’ll be playing at Nuemos on January 30th, with musician ABSOFACTO opening for him. The event is all-ages and starts at 8:00 PM. Although tickets are currently sold out, keep checking the Nuemos website for updates.
