Majid Jordan, a duo based in Toronto, Canada, is a phenomenal success in the R&B, electronic, pop musical genre. Their two albums, Majid Jordan (2016) and The Space Between (2017), have gained momentous attention and allows for a full immersion in the music world. Starting with features on songs and uploads on Soundcloud, they are now everywhere and anywhere!

Yes, Majid Jordan is the duo who was featured on Drake’s song, “Hold on, We’re Going Home”  and signed with Drake’s OVO Sound record label, so I found it very fitting that the opening act, an incredibly seductive French DJ, played Drake’s music in accordance to his throbbing bass and pulsating blue lights that shimmered all throughout the Showbox SoDo.

This past Thursday, February 15th, Majid Jordan, performed a beautiful, sensual, and compelling performance. Personally, one of the best parts of this concert was Majid’s incredibly kind, welcoming, and repetitive shout-outs to the audience. He constantly thanked us and credited us (the audience) for his own happiness, calling the night a dream for him.

The dreamy, yet incredibly bubbly performance of both Majid and Jordan held one of the most engaging and interesting audiences I have found myself in. There was a lot of dancing, swaying, and singing, in addition to pure smiles. The crowd sang to every song, and the sea of individuals gradually transformed into one, as the alluring sounds traveled throughout our bodies. The sea of smiles worked perfectly in harmony with the stage of smiles. As Jordan danced in rhythm with his synthesizer and Majid swayed in rhythm with the fluctuating neon lights, the stage was a scene of balance, expertise, and love.

Speaking of love, the whole show was essentially designated for the lovers and/or the heartbroken. With the recent release of their album, The Space Between, Majid Jordan performed, and flawlessly for that matter, many of their newly released songs. Some of these songs included “What You Do To Me”, “Gave Your Love Away”, “Phases”, and “The Space Between”. It was a dance flavored romantic rendition of loving someone, losing someone, and wanting someone. But they also played their older songs, that allowed us all to reminisce in their R&B, synth pop tunes, such as “All I Do”, “Forever” “Every Step Every Way”, and “Small Talk”.

From start to finish, the entire show was charmingly done with an atmospheric, intimate finish. True talent bellowed from Majid’s voice, through each and every song. His voice carried a strong sense of confidence and passion that resonated throughout the warehouse-like concert venue. It was a cozy, eccentrically alluring night, all thanks to Majid Jordan’s distinctive sound.
