5 Reasons Why You Should Go To Battle of the Bands

  1. Your chance to have some input on Quadstock

M: Quadstock is one of the largest events that happen on our campus; certainly the largest music event on campus and sometimes it’s great (remember Best Coast?) and sometimes not so much (remember that time Macklemore showed up uninvited? #rude). And although Quadstock is student organized, we, the general public, don’t get any say until its time to buy tickets except in regards to the student opener. You get to pick one of the 4-5 bands. But only if you go to Battle of the Band and vote for a winner.

  1. You get to hear and support local Seattle U musicians

A: Seattle is such a music hub and you can go to tons and tons of concerts pretty much on any given night (S/O to Bandsintown for keeping me sane and updated). But how often do you actually get to hear live music from your very own peeps at SU? (The answer is not often enough.) Battle of the Bands gives you the chance to go and support local SU musicians and watch them jam out. Check out these super rad bands who will compete this year: Island of Ice, Champagne Babylon, Wrinkles, Paralexis, and Animals in the Attic. We’re expecting a lot of talent that night.

  1. The cheapest Capitol Hill show with five headliners

M: I don’t think a lot of people think about Battle of the Bands this way but its actually so tru. Where else could you see five headliners for five dollars? Like nowhere. A love for music, especially live music, can be costly on our wallets. I think we all have those friends who say shit like “I love live music, it doesn’t matter who’s playing, I just looooove to go to shows”. And then the only shit they wanna go see is like Beyoncé at Key Arena or sold out Mac DeMarco shows (if you think I’m scalping tickets your ass is trippin’). Who can afford that? No one. Battle of the Bands is all about bang for your buck. You’re gonna pay only a little bit of money and you’re gonna have a really good time.

  1. Freebies on freebies on freebies

A: If you tell us that you don’t like free stuff (like the little creamer cups for coffee at gas stations or the pens and stickers people give out at random tabling things), then you’re probably lying #shady. At this year’s B.o.B. there will be awesome live music plus some cool free stuff:

  • Cajun spiced popcorn, mini corndogs, virgin Hurricanes
  • Band stickers
  • Mixed CDs of the bands’ songs
  • Photobooth #selfies #groupies #newprofilepicture
  • Unlimited visits to the restroom (you’re welcome)
  1. See other SU music organizations: KXSU and Grammy U

M: Obvi, you like KXSU. I mean you’re reading our blog so you better fucking like us. But if you have a desire to interact with us not through the interweb stop by the KXSU table at Battle of the Bands and talk to our beautiful faces about how you can get involved with us and learn more about the ass-kicking cool stuff we do.

A: You can also check out our homies, Grammy U, and find out how you can get involved with this organization that helps you get more experience in the music industry (can I get a holla?). Stop by their table and pick up some freebie CDs and goodies.
