Now that midterms are (almost) over it’s time to get intimate. D.C. born singer Nick Hakim is coming to Seattle this Tuesday at Barboza.

Inspired by Marvin Gaye, Nick Hakim creates dreamy soundscapes that are nostalgically bittersweet. Older cuts off his EP Where Will We Go, such as “Cold” and “Pour Another,” show his prowess in creating cozy but heart-wrenching lullabies that will no doubt make you reminiscent of young love.

His new album Green Twins is a more instrumental project recorded in lo-fidelity that captures his romantic poetry in a hazy euphoria. Highlights such as “Bet She Looks Like You” and “Roller Skates” show off his falsetto in ways you would only guess were from your dad’s old record collection.

If you like Bon Iver, Abhi//Dijon, or Childish Gambino’s latest album, definitely come see this talented baritone live in Cap Hill tonight. Check out this clip of Hakim performing in London at Sofar Sounds a couple years ago:

Opening for Hakim is Sam Evian, a solo project from Celestial Shore frontman Sam Owens, who describes his sound as “jangy soul music” mixed with 70s soft-rock. Owens released his new EP, Need You, earlier this month sort of as a placeholder between his first full-length album and another to come soon. The EP was recorded with Chris Cohen (Deerhoof, Cass McCombs, Ariel Pink) at his Los Angeles recording studio last winter.
