Freaky Friday

This year I am very happy because I am living with one of my best friends, Sophie. Sophie and I lived on the same floor last year and I showed up in her room over and over until we became friends and now here we are. I love living with Sophie and one of the reasons I love living with her is because she pushes me to get out and experience new things with her! So, because of her, I am going to my first rave. I am going to Freaknight! Now let me tell you why I’m so excited:

On September 5th, USC posted the Freaknight lineup and said this:

“Come one, come all to the creepiest carnival in town! USC Events is proud to announce the full lineup for the 22nd annual Freaknight Festival.

Come get twisted under our Big Top with this year’s sinister selections including Marshmello, Steve Aoki, Yellow Claw, Knife Party, Aly & Fila, Arty, Boys Noize, Doctor P b2b Cookie Monsta, Green Velvet, Paul Oakenfold, Badklaat, Bonnie X Clyde, Mija, Pegboard Nerds, Quix, Solardo, Space Jesus, Whipped Cream, Darrius, Kendoll, and Quackson!

More wild and wicked than ever before, this year’s debauchery will include three hair raising stages of music, frightening carnival rides, ghoulish games, perils performances, and so much more. Dawn your best costumes and step under the big top with us for a night of fright you won’t soon forget. This is one freakshow you won’t want to miss.”

So, not only is the lineup great (I am particularly looking forward to Marshmello and Aly & Fila), but this gives me an excuse to dress up because gone are the days where trick or treating was THE Halloween activity

I am also looking forward to Freaknight because I have heard such great things about “rave culture” so I finally get to experience it for myself. Ravers live by the mantra PLUR which stands for Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. Some ravers add another R to the end, which stands for Responsibility. For many ravers, PLUR is not just a concept, but a lifestyle. They strive to emulate each aspect of PLUR at raves and in their everyday lives.

Sophie has no doubt we will have a good time, meet new people and experience some great music. Freaknight is Friday, October 26th at WaMu theater downtown. There are limited tickets left, but you can find them HERE! If you’re going, maybe I’ll see you there!
