It’s a rare and exciting occasion when I find myself just as excited for the opening band of a show as I am for the headliner. I never saw a Palehound x Cherry Glazerr joint tour coming, but once I found out, nothing has made more sense to me. Both groups will be at Neumos on March 7th for a night of rowdy rock tunes.

I had the chance to see LA indie rockers Cherry Glazerr at Bumbershoot last September, and the energy that they brought to the stage was actually mind blowing. The group went from a semi-full crowd in an outdoor venue at the beginning of their set to a sea of people spilling over each other just to get a glimpse of the band at the finish. Cherry Glazerr’s quirky personality, catchy choruses and face-melting guitar riffs are all factors of what make their live performance such a delight to witness.

I’ve never seen Palehound live, and it’s an experience that I’ve been long awaiting. With a couple projects under their belt, the Mac Demarco-esque dreamy guitar that is highlighted in a majority of Palehound’s discography is impossible not to enjoy as a fan of indie music. The rawness of the production and vocals that the group brings to the table is another stand out factor of their music, and I’m excited to see how it translates to their show.

Palehound lead singer Ellen Kempner’s often breathy and soft voice creates a stark contrast with the gritty, howling vocals of Cherry Glazerr’s Clementine Creevy. Lots of hype have been swirling around for both of these groups, so it’s no surprise that the show is sold out. If you managed to snag tickets, doors are at 8 PM, see ya there!
