Well! Summer has officially begun! Love Island USA has just returned to our screens. Peacock recently revealed the cast for season 8, and of course the internet immediately started doing what it does best: judging strangers based off one cast photo and a two-line bio. So much so, the Villa had to drop a ‘friendly reminder’ to all Love Island viewers (as seen down below.)
After scrolling through the reveal for far too long, I can confidently say the girls this season are stunning. Casting definitely delivered when it came to the women, and every single one of them already looks like they are about to dominate the villa for the next two months. They are giving everything they possibly can!
The men, though… well.
Social media reactions have been kind of hilarious because so many people seem to agree that the women completely outshine the guys this year (well, pretty much every year). I have already seen tweets calling this “the most beautiful female cast with the most random group of men imaginable,” which, unfortunately, I kind of understand. That being said, Sean Reifel might be the saving grace of the male lineup. Personally, I think Sean is easily the hottest guy this season, and apparently I am not alone because he already seems to be one of the few contestants people are universally excited about online. I mean what’s not to love? The dimples… the smile lines… THE TATTOOS!!!!
Of course, the funniest part about Love Island is that first impressions almost never matter. Every season there is always at least one Islander everyone ignores at first who suddenly becomes the fan favorite by week three (my bets on Aniyah). Meanwhile, the people viewers obsess over during cast reveal week somehow end up dumped from the villa after one badly timed recoupling.
The cast itself is a mix of influencers, athletes, models, students, and content creators, which honestly feels very Love Island. One contestant already getting attention online is Aniya Harvey, daughter of former NBA player Donnell Harvey, while Beatriz Hatz enters the villa as a Paralympic bronze medalist. Fans are also talking about Zach Georgiou because his brother Charlie appeared on season 7, making this season feel connected already. From first impressions alone, the cast seems chaotic in the best way possible, which is exactly what viewers want heading into summer reality TV season.
If you have somehow never watched Love Island USA before, first of all, where have you been? The show takes a group of singles and drops them into a luxury villa where they have to couple up in order to survive in the competition. Throughout the season, new contestants called “bombshells” arrive specifically to destroy existing couples and create chaos. There are challenges, dramatic recouplings, public votes, arguments over absolutely nothing, and somehow at least one person crying every episode. It is genuinely one of the most addicting reality shows on television.
I am so excited for the new season to premiere on June 2nd, everyone is invited to my apartment for a watch party because I already know this season is going to consume my life. Whether the cast ends up iconic, messy, or completely disastrous, I will be watching every single episode the second it drops.
