This year was full of GREAT, and slightly terrible albums that I will still listen to because I have parts of my mind that feel the need to be basic at all points in time.

Joyce Manor’s Never Hung Over Again is one of if not the best of the GREAT albums. Though I was disappointed that it was released off of Epitaph Records rather that Asian Man Records, Never Hungover Again did not disappoint me at all. Rounding the bases at a whopping 19 minutes Joyce Manor has kept its raw punky sound and also leans into some catchy waters. With songs like Christmas Card and Heart Tattoo to get stuck in your head forever the 19 minutes you spend listening to the album will undoubtedly be the best 19 minutes of most rainy Seattle Days.

Here is a review of the album, done by someone who probably doesn’t have quite as much of a bias to it(Much better if you haven’t listened to Joyce Manor before):

Originally meant to be a folk punk band, Joyce Manor has a way to it that crosses so many genres together yet fits perfectly into its own genre. Having just come off of tour with the almighty Brand New, Joyce Manor may now even have some fans from the other half of the pop punk scene that my middle school self, grew long bangs to fit into.

Joyce Manor is headlining this tour and being supported by Toys That Kill an Asain Man Records band that sticks a little closer to its punk/metal roots and Our First Brains a Pop Punky band that has a little raw side to it.

All these words and reading aside, I am super excited for this show. I saw Joyce Manor about a year and a half ago and it seemed that all the heavy singing finally got to Barry (lead singer of Joyce Manor) and he had to end the show early.

Luckily for Seattle, however, we have Take Warning Presents (promoter of the show) to save us all from unbearable droughts of Joyce Manor. The Vera Project will be the perfect venue for the show as it will fill up with youth and dedicated Joyce Manor fans leading to what I hope to be just the right amount of moshing (hopefully not TOO sweaty). The doors open at 7PM on Monday night. I will now leave you with a seasons greeting from Joyce Manor.
