Day 2 day 2 day 2! Today is arguably the most kid-friendly day at CHBP with family friendly entertainment non! stop! Make sure to stretch and hydrate before this one as CHBP packs in 10 straight hours of music on the Hill under (hopefully? hopefully not?) the summer sun. These artists are not to be missed, so let’s get right to it.
Lord Huron @ Main Stage, 10:30 PM—12:00 AM
Folk-pop ensemble, Lord Huron, provide a change-of-pace as Saturday’s main stage headliner. Sandwiched between Run the Jewels on Friday and Diplo on Sunday, Lord Huron brings acoustic guitars, feel-good road trip jams, and a mellow sing along style to the stage that will likely be much more intense other nights. Since their formation in 2010, Lord Huron has steadily gained momentum with their latest LP reaching the Top 25 charts in both the U.S. and Canada. Known for sweeping albums, gentle and emotional lyrics, and catchy indie-folk rhythms, this group is perfect for a family-style festy.
Lizzo @ Main Stage, 7:30—8:30 PM
“Good as Hell” is one h*ck of a banger, and if Lizzo’s booming voice, lyrical mastery, and stage presence don’t bring you straight to her set, the track alone should. In 2015, Lizzo released her debut album Big Grrrl Small World on her own label, and in 2016 made her major label debut with the EP Coconut Oil. With an energetic live show and tangible passion and intelligence, it is impossible not to enjoy being in Lizzo’s presence.
Cosmos @ Main Stage, 2:15—3:00 PM
&
Naked Giants @ Vera Stage, 8:30—9:15 PM
Two Sound Off winners in one night? Incredible! Check out coverage on these home-grown favorites: April’s interviews with indie rockers Naked Giants here and Campana, the frontman of Cosmos, here!
Whitney @ Main Stage, 6:00—7:00 PM
The forever touring band Whitney returns to Seattle again for the second time in 2017 (truly a blessing). Former KXSU DMD, April Jingco, could not have attested to Whitney’s latest EP any better saying, “Whitney’s first LP, Light Upon The Lake, is the epitome of what I would think a perfect summer would be like if it took the form of an album. The tinges of sweet, sweet melancholy of their songs will remind you of your fondest moments of experiencing love—platonic, familial, or romantic.” In March, Whitney released two more tracks- wow! They are sure to draw a crowd, so plan accordingly!
Youryoungbody @ Barboza, 5:45—6:15 PM
Youryoungbody is an electronic duo (reminiscent of a darker, Seattle version of Sylvan Esso) that is a KXSU house favorite. If you didn’t catch them at Upstream Music Festival, now’s your chance! Find KXSU reporter Anna Kaplan raving about youryoungbody here.
