Tomorrow night in Ballard, a modern music legend is grabbing his drum sticks and hitting the stage. Mark Guiliana has been important to the worldwide music scene for many years, a fact that is undisputable when you look at his track record of collaborations.

Guiliana has toured across six continents and played alongside Avishai Cohen, Brad Mehldau, Gretchen Parlato, Meshell Ndegocello, Lionel Loueke, and David Bowie, just to name a few. He is innovative in his style and is making a mark on modern music and everyone is noticing. On top of all these collaborations and connections, Guiliana has been noticed for his talent by the New York Times who, in a raving 2014 review, wrote that he was, “a drummer around whom a cult of admiration has formed.”He’s also been praised by Downbeat, JazzTimes, NPR, and the Modern Drummer Readers Poll 2017 in which he was ranked Best Jazz Drummer. He also wrote a book called Exploring Your Creativity on the Drumset which elaborates on his unique perspective on drumming. This book was reviewed in many magazines and featured in Hudson Music.

These accomplishments are just the start for Guiliana, as he now tours around with his most recent group, SPACE HEROES, featuring Chris Morrissey, Jason Rigby, and Mike Lewis. Touring since mid-summer with this group, they have already received acclaim in music magazines across the country. Time Out, New York music Magazine, commented on Guiliana’s playing in SPACE HEROES by saying he has an “erratic, explosive style.”

Guiliana is going to London with Avishai Cohen later this month, so don’t miss the opportunity to see him live tomorrow night at the Tractor Tavern! Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show begins at 8:00 PM. Tickets and more information can be found here. This event is ages 21 and over.
