Olivia Dean, a breakthrough English pop-soul artist, just released the perfect spring anthem. Her new single, ‘It Isn’t Perfect but It Might Be’ was released on February 11th, 2025 – making its mark on the charts and rising in popularity.

The addictive melody, complimented by the stunning percussion creates a perfect structure for the lyrics. The lyrics have a blend of warmth, vulnerability, and hope, expressing the bitter-sweet meaning of the song. Olivia shared the meaning of the new single in an interview with DIY publication: “’ It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ is about giving yourself permission to love again after grief, and trusting that things might just work out after all, even if it’s not how you expected them to.”

Spring – when the flowers begin to bloom, the air feels crisp and the world feels full of promise.

Olivia captures this same feeling of rejuvenation and potential, making it the perfect soundtrack for the season. From the very first note, the song’s lively but soothing vibe captures the refreshing energy that spring embodies. Spring is the season where we see a lot of growth, both in the things around us and within ourselves.

The part of seeing things bloom is also seeing what is being shed. Trees bloom, but their branches still hold traces of the past. This reflects the meaning of “It Isn’t Perfect but It Might Be”. Olivia’s lyrics acknowledge the imperfections that are natural to our lives. The song continues to highlight the theme of accepting life’s imperfections while striving for new growth reflecting the season’s promise for new beginnings.

Although things may not be perfectly “set” or “ready”, similar to how a flower does not boom all at once, the lyrics remind me that that growth is often messy and gradual, and that’s perfectly okay.
