Conquering the Winter Blues

26-2

Author: Margareth Soriano

February has always been a tough month for me. With the Winter Quarter in full effect, the quest to fight off burnout is real. Finding the motivation to get out of bed, finish homework, or go out at all can be hard these days, but good thing there’s always some form of media I can turn to in order to lift my spirits. If you’re in need of some good music, shows, or movies, here are my top five media recommendations to give your mood a boost.

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette
Newly streaming on Hulu and Disney+, this show tells the story of the well-known “America’s couple,” JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. It is a limited series set to have nine episodes, with a new episode coming out every Thursday. Many have criticized executive producer Ryan Murphy for his portrayal of the couple, and most people have said the story should have been left untouched. Despite the tough critics, the series has gained millions of views, and fans seem to love Sarah Pidgeon’s portrayal of the beloved Carolyn Bessette. She seems to have captured Carolyn’s effortless and timeless beauty and grace.

The Pitt: Season 2
The award-winning TV show The Pitt came back this year in January, but episodes have been continuously releasing every Thursday. If you’re a fan of medical drama, this is the show for you. The Pitt has previously been praised for its medically accurate depictions while simultaneously letting viewers get to know each and every character and maintaining the perfect amount of drama and suspense. It tells the story of how nurses and doctors balance their everyday lives and personal problems while working in an underfunded and short-staffed trauma center. Now is the perfect time to binge-watch this critically acclaimed show before new episodes come out.

Eternity
Although it came out in November 2025, I still find myself coming back to this rom-com. Joan, who is played by Elizabeth Olsen, must choose between her husband of 65 years and her first love, who has waited 67 years for her in the afterlife. This movie has the perfect balance of laughter, love, and tears. I love how this movie gets viewers to put themselves in Joan’s shoes and think about what’s most important to them in love. I constantly yearn for the feeling of seeing this film for the first time. So grab a couple of friends or your partner and get ready to debate Joan’s choice.

DeBí TiRAR máS FOToS by Bad Bunny
After his spectacular Super Bowl halftime show, this album by Bad Bunny has been on repeat. Walking to class, going to the gym, and even while I’m currently writing this, this album is on full blast. You can easily catch a vibe with every song on the album, and each one gets you up and on your feet dancing. Bad Bunny was definitely deserving of the Grammy “Album of the Year” award.

Aperture by Harry Styles
While patiently waiting for his brand-new album, this single has also been on repeat lately. It’s been quite the perfect tease, and the more I listen to it, the more excited I get for Styles’ new album. I’ve also been wondering if we’ll be blessed with another single. Whether or not we are, this song always inspires me to get up and clean, go for a walk, or lock in on my schoolwork. There have been many times when I’ve put on this song and gotten myself out of a rut. So if you’re in need of a pump-up song, give this one a listen.

Those are my top five pieces of media I’ve been consuming this month! Some new and some oldies but still goodies. Sticking to familiar and stable things when everything else is getting hectic is my favorite way to remain balanced. Give these shows and music a try and let me know what you think!
