“Music recommendations coming straight from the stars”

Is Astrology fake? Maybe. Should you still check your horoscope? Since you’re reading this article, you know the correct answer is, yes. Boring horoscopes be gone! Here’s the songs each sign will need to hear to get them through the month ahead. Plus, a list of upcoming astrological and astronomical events to look forward to.

Reminder: The stars have no real bearings on our lives, unless you allow them to…

Look at the sky more often, but specifically on November 17th to mid-day on the 18th. The Leonids meteor shower will be visible from the heart of the Leo constellation. Expect decent visibility.

A new moon in Scorpio on November 7th urges the zodiac to find closure.

November’s full moon, in the Gemini constellation, falls on the eve of the 22nd. This year the Beaver Moon is the last full moon before winter solstice on December 21st, meaning it is also considered the Mourning Moon; the last full moon of fall marks the end of a season.

In mourning this period of transformation, take time to honor the changes you underwent as the leaves, too, changed their colors to prepare for winter stagnance. Further, do not mistake stability for being stuck; sure, winter in Seattle is a solitary time, but there is room for growth even when you remain inside.

SCORPIO (October 23—November 21): What’s scarier than a Scorpio scorned? Jupiter, the planet of expansion and luck, will finally move on to the next sign after over a year spent lurking with scorpions. That period of time was intensely transformative. Now, in Jupiter’s absence, you can stop holding your breath, and start steering in the direction of your choosing. November is a month of power.

Honor the famous Scorpios, like Bjork, by list

SAGITTARIUS (November 22—December 21): Hey Archer, stock up on arrows. You’ll be shooting your shot more often than usual this month. Jupiter, your planetary ruler, will move into Sagittarius after the new moon. Essentially, this means the forces associated with the planet will be at their full potential for the next year; drastic change is coming.

Talk it through with someone and keep talking. Sometimes things don’t seem real until you say them out loud. You’ll have a lot of chances to see real, physical change this month. Don’t shut that out by shutting up. If you run out of words, borrow those of Robert Smith (The Cure) on Three Imaginary Boys.

CAPRICORN (December 22—January 19): You’re a goat, not a pack mule. Meaning, you can’t carry the weight of your own expectations up the hill without help. So where is the rest of your herd? Who can you rely on? Visualize your future, the peak at the end of this trek. Who, and what, is with you in the end? November will present an opportunity to step up, whether that be at work, or standing up for yourself in partnerships. Keep picturing the view from above.

When you’re feeling down, So Icy Princess – Asian Doll will get you right back up.

AQUARIUS (January 20—February 18): Looks like you need a nap. Uranus, the planet of enlightenment, originality, independence, etc… (your rulingplanet) will be moving further away from you. You’ve probably worked through quite a lot of internal revelations lately, so you need to heal.

Time to work on those trust issues. Tired of doing all the work alone? Luckily for you, Venus ends it retrograde this month; your partner(s) will listen if you choose to speak, and act for you if you ask. Trust them.

Relax to Guitar Interludes – Joe Pass.

PISCES (February 19—March 20): It feels so… overwhelming. Isn’t this what you wanted? Now that the moment, your moment, has come, will you rise to the occasion, or will you stand too fast, dizzy and unprepared? Whoever you want to become, that version of yourself relies on the present day “you.” Don’t ignore daily responsibilities because you’re distracted by the future. Polish your resume, but still clean the house.

Romance is Boring – Los Campesinos

ARIES (March 21—April 19): Rebirth with fall exposes your soft underbelly, and we know you don’t do vulnerability, unless it is an exhibitionist act. With this in mind, energy ought to be devoted to strengthening your core. Who, or what, is at your center? The urge to merge may be strong, but your desire to appear self-sufficient is stronger. Be wary—don’t try so hard to fool others that you end up tricking yourself as well.

Garlands – Cocteau Twins.

TAURUS (April 20—May 20): You need more. To get it, confrontation might be necessary. Figure out what passion is missing from your life. Perhaps the lack of satisfaction, despite being capable and successful in completing projects, hints to a realm of desires you have not explored. What has been overlooked? Maybe you aren’t as comfortable as you thought.

Experiment with Weld – Barnett + Coloccia

GEMINI (May 21—June 20): Get up and stay up! Make changes to your daily routine with health and wellness in mind. Care for yourself outside of capitalism—less face masks, more meditation or preferred method of “me time.” Oh, and most importantly, put down the phone. Consume less so you may be fulfilled internally rather than externally, and temporarily.

Quiet moment music Heart Shaped Bed – Nicole Dollanganger

CANCER (June 21—July 22): When you need to scream, kick, slam your fists, cry, whatever—you need to feel. There is no sense in swallowing those feelings. Let it all go. Throw a big fit. Cry on the street! Why shouldn’t the world know how you feel? “Leave before being left” mentality backfired, and now you know it’s just as easy to abandon yourself. Do you miss them, or how you felt when you were with them? Where did that version of yourself go?

When I’m sad I listen to G.R.E.Y.G.O.D.S.I.I – $uicideBoy$ x Ramirez

LEO (July 23—August 22): Providing for others is especially exhausting for Leos, who expect so much in return. The recognition and respect is a plus, but never fully satiates the lion. People can perform to your standards if you tell them what you expect. Spend more time at home this month. Start a personal improvement project, something to be proud of, something only you benefit from. No more people-as-projects!

Us – Empress Of

VIRGO (August 23—September 22): You are magnetic! The answers you have long been looking for are coming your way. November begs you to lessen up the internal pressure. So much has happened, and is happening to you right now. Do pay attention to detail, as you analyze with expertise, but adjust your focus from time to time. There’s no point in obsessing over one small section if the big picture doesn’t paint an accurate self-portrait.

Expand and experience. Aviary – Julia Holter

LIBRA (September 23—October 22): Hey honey, can I borrow some money? Seems as if you are cashing in the monetary rewards of your summer labors, as well as the self-esteem boost you so readily deserve. The good news doesn’t end there; your guardian angel, Venus, stays in Libra until moving into Scorpio on the 22nd. What this means for you: temptation and allure. People want to support you, be around you, be seen by you. You put them on a pedestal and pretend they have climbed to your level. Vocalize self-love. Write affirmations on your mirror. Your wings lift you higher; what is the wind beneath them?

Scattered into Light – Sun Glitters

Got an earth sign anthem worthy of sharing? Maybe an album only water suns can truly empathize with? Add it to this elemental playlist series on Spotify. One for each of the four elements, for remembering who you are, and what you’re made of.
