A Preview of Toro y Moi at Neptune Theatre

It’s easy to get lost in the soundscape Toro y Moi creates. Toro y Moi, or Chazwick Bradley Bundick, creates a unique blend of psych and chillwave music that’s capable of encompassing, captivating, and mesmerizing listeners. While his music tends to have a relaxing vibe (perfect to fade your way into an afternoon nap), when performing live, Toro y Moi takes on a new energy that will keep you grooving and jamming.

Toro y Moi’s latest album, Live from Trona, was recorded pretty interestingly. Although this is a live album, the audience for it’s recording was nobody. Trona is not some hip club, as one would expect; it’s a desert. This unique setting, especially for an artist who is famous for his dance club vibes, brings a whole new dimension to Toro’s music. Although Monday’s show will be a dance fest, there is more complexity to be found in Toro’s music.

Opening for Toro on Monday is jazz-rock duo Mattson 2. This duo is sure to compliment the intellectual direction Toro seems to be taking with his music. Mattson 2’s use of jazz and rock undertones creates a unique and complex mix of melodies that’ll be complementary to the headliner. Mattson 2 uses a strange two-in-one guitar for their music, which is worth the price of admission alone.

See Toro y Moi and Mattson 2 at The Neptune Theatre on Monday, November 7. This show is all ages. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Get your tickets here.
