Garret Clark Borns from Grand Haven, Michigan, is the son of a graphic designer and nutritionist. He has gone by many aliases, one of his most well-known being, “Garrett the Great” which he went by, of course, during his stint as a 10-year-old professional magician.

Somewhere along the lines, the 10-year-old magician blossomed into a 26-year-old musician who has performed with the likes of Lana del Rey and has two albums under his belt. All it seemed to take was a move from New York City to the mystical land of Los Angeles for Garrett to give birth to “10,000 Emerald Pools” and begin his new life as BØRNS.

Following the Candy EP, BØRNS’ debut album, Dopamine, was released in 2015 and its single “Electric Love” was an instant success. That song is an excellent representation of the album as a whole, which mixes sunshine and romantic longing together to make desire sound like a super fun day at the beach. Who wouldn’t want to be in love when Garrett makes it seem as easy as singing along to your favorite song? Clean, catchy beats are mixed with sweet daydreams throughout the album, which can especially be found on “Past Lives”.

On January 12th, he released his sophomore album, Blue Madonna (2018), which features much of the same irresistible love song pop elements that brought him success earlier in his career. Fans are sure to love “Second Night of Summer” and the first song on the album, “God Save Our Young Blood” which features Lana del Rey. BØRNS captures and manipulates society’s obsession with youth, love, and summer, otherwise known as the Holy Trinity. Almost every song puts the listener into a trance and begs them to let loose and dance like they’re young and in love.

The success of his EP and Dopamine helped BØRNS cement slots on tour with Charli XCX and Bleachers, and sets at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Coachella. Now, he is embarking on his own solo tour to support Blue Madonna. The tall and slight BØRNS will be wowing crowds across the country with his falsetto as he is bathed in cool tones over sweet synth melodies.

BØRNS will be stopping in Seattle on January 21st for a SOLD OUT show at the Showbox SODO. Even if you can’t make it to the show, keep up with BØRNS on Twitter (@bornsmusic) and Facebook!
