Here’s the Low Down on Low and Andy Shauf at the Crocodile on November 21st

Sorry Seattle, I am a Minnesotan through and through. Whenever I see that a Midwestern based band is going to be in Seattle, you could say I get pretty excited. That was certainly the case when I heard Minnesotan local legend Low would be stopping at the Crocodile at 8 o’clock on November 21st.

I first heard of Low through my favorite MN radio station, but they soon became a staple of my Seattle playlists. Their latest album, like most of their work, can be classified as slow-core rock, and has this sort of haunting/droning sound that is perfect for staring out a window at the ever-present Seattle rain. Because the music off their last album doesn’t have a fast pace, Low’s talent really lies in their details. I have already seen Low once at an in-store performance, and their complex sound translates surprisingly well to the stage. Check out my favorite song by them below:

Joining Low on the 21st is Andy Shauf. I didn’t know anything about Andy Shauf prior to doing my research for this show, but please, please, please, check him out. Shauf has the power to put just about anyone in a trance. You can just feel the emotion and talent just roll off this guy. During my short obsession and research, I’ve encountered quite a few live videos, and I can’t say how excited I am for this show. From what I’ve seen, Shauf is just as good live, if not better, than he is recorded (and he is pretty darn great recorded). Check out my favorite link below:

Alright, not going to lie. before writing this preview I wasn’t even all that excited for this concert. I was mostly going to rep my Minnesotan roots. But now that I’ve done the proper research, I can tell this is going to be a really great show. Both Low and Andy Shauf have such a unique and driving sound that there is no way you won’t get your money’s worth out of this one.
