Seattle’s Decibel Festival On A Hiatus

Earlier today, Sean Patrick Horton, the founder of Decibel Festival, announced that this Seattle-based electronic music festival will be on an extended break. Since its start in 2003, Decibel Festival has been the focal point of Seattle’s electronic music scene. It has hosted over 1,000 artists over the past 12 years, some of which include ZEDD, Zola Jesus, ODESZA, Pillow Talk, Giraffage, Lorde, Chet Faker, Clean Bandit, and many more.

“…it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that after 11 straight annual editions, Decibel will be taking an extended break,” says Horton. “Know that Decibel as an organization will continue and this is temporary and much needed break.”

In a press release that dropped earlier this morning, Horton announced his move from the Pacific Northwest to Los Angeles to pursue a new career working for Red Bull. The festival, which was set to take place from September 23 to 27, is now cancelled. Horton has stated that while the festival is on an undetermined hiatus, it will be revived sometime in the future.

“Thank you once again for all of the support over the years. Change never comes easy, but know that Decibel as an organization will arise once again with new leadership to help guide it. For now I hope we can all reflect on how Decibel touched each of our lives and helped to provide a platform for the flourishing Pacific Northwest electronic music community.”
