Have you ever dreamt of being a musician or artist? Are you facing many challenges starting up your own music or art project and being concerned about your career? Do you want to network with industry professionals to gain some insight into the industry? This year, Capitol Hill Block Party, Porter Novelli, and the Seattle Office of Film + Music + Special Events will present the CHBP 2016 Panel Series, an exclusive discussion and networking opportunity to help educate local artists on how to develop their careers.

The panel will be divided into two sections. The first section, “Pay Attention to My Band!… Please?”, is intended to suggest strategies for emerging local artists to increase their chances of breaking through the clutter of the industry and getting noticed. This is a great opportunity to explore career potential with people like Kelly Fleek from Lo Lux Media, Melissa Darby from Reign City Presents, Sharlese Marcalf from KEXP 90.3 FM, and Sean Nelson from The Stranger.

The second section seeks to answer to a very practical but urgent question, “How, then, does one make a living as a musician in Seattle?”, with Kate Becker, the moderator for this panel and Director of the Seattle Office of Film + Music + Special Events, and her guests, Dumi Maraire from Draze, Kris Orlowski, Ayron Jones, and Sol Moravia-Rosenberg from Sol.

The event will take place on Friday, July 22 at 12 p.m. at Grim’s. This event is free with RSVP on DO206. All ages are welcome. For more detailed information, you can visit the event’s informational page.
