February has been a busy and exciting month of shows for me. From the second week of February until the end of the month, I attended one show a week, starting with Cherry Glazerr and Slow Hollows, followed by Hippo Campus, and then to put the icing on the cake, Tennis who is playing Neumos tonight.

Tennis is a dreamy indie-pop husband-and-wife duo, Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley, from Denver, Colorado. The band formed in 2010 and released their first album, Cape Dory, about a year later. Both Moore and Riley formed the band to write about their time living out at sea in an old sailboat for eight months after they graduated college. Little did they think, though, that their journey would transform into alluring and dreamy songs. With three albums out since their sailboat journey, the couple has made many television appearances, from Conan to The Late Night Show with David Letterman. A couple years after the release of their third album, Ritual in Repeat, the couple set out again on a sailboat journey in the Pacific Ocean for inspiration for their next album, which is set to release March 5. Before their release of Yours Conditionally, the couple is touring the United States, stopping in Seattle for a sold out show at Neumos.

Not only am I excited to see Tennis, but I’m also looking forward to their opener, Peter Matthew Bauer, who’s a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Bauer was a bass guitarist for indie rock band, The Walkmen until the band went on an extended hiatus. It’ll be interesting to hear Bauer, who will for sure get the attention of the crowd with his songs on both freedom and fear, perform from his recent album, Liberation!

Tennis and Peter Matthew Bauer will be playing at Neumos tonight, Tuesday, February 28th. Doors are at 8:00 p.m. The show is sold out.
