Saturday, March 25th marks day four of Treefort Music Fest in Boise, ID, and it’s been an incredibly fun and tiring experience. Concerts are always fun, but five consecutive days of ‘em can wear you down. Lucky for us, though, Saturday’s lineup boasts some stellar talent that’ll help take us into the homestretch. Peep below for some of the talent to expect!
Kishi Bashi
Kishi Bashi is what I would call an indie-electro musician from Athens, GA. Listening to his music reminds me of the days I used to listen to Two Door Cinema Club and Discovery. Kishi Bashi has a sound unlike anything other band I’ve heard, and I imagine that his concert will be full of pure-hearted dancing and happiness. Kishi Bashi will be playing at the Main Stage at 5:45 p.m., but if you can’t catch him then, he’ll also be playing on Sunday at 11:40 p.m. in the Linen Building. -SL
Lizzo
Lizzo is a rapper and gospel singer from Minneapolis, MN. She’s dedicated some of her work to raising awareness on feminism and black empowerment, and because of this, she is likened to artists like Solange. She’s played all around the world, and Boise is lucky to have her come. If you’re interested in Lizzo, check her out at the Main Stage at 7:00 p.m. -SL
AJJ
Previously, and after much controversy, named “Andrew Jackson Jihad,” AJJ is a shortened version of an expanded band’s repertoire of fuzzy, punk sounds. They’re touring for their newest and sixth album, Bible 2, and will be playing the Knitting Factory (upstairs), which sounds like an exciting venue to check out, at 9:00 p.m. -AH
Gringo Star
Gringo Star is a four-person rock & roll band coming all the way from Atlanta, GA. The band looks to artists like Richie Valens and The Stooges for inspiration. Slowly, the band has been expanding their audience by touring around the world with other groups like Best Coast and Weezer. If they sound like your vibe, check ‘em out when they play at El Korah Shrine at 10:00 p.m. -SL

Alvvays
From Toronto, Ontario, Treefort will be presenting Alvvays. Alvvays is a band composed of three men and two women. They’re an alternative band with strong female vocals and drum-heavy instrumentals. They played at Coachella last year, and now it’s Boise’s turn to draw them in.. Alvvays will be playing at El Korah Shrine at 11:30 p.m. -SL
Great Grandpa
Another well-known and highly respected Seattle band, Great Grandpa, is one of the bands I’ve been most excited to finally get to see at Treefort. The five-person band has a nicely layered sound that’s distinctively Pacific Northwest rock, as well as being honest and fun all in one. They have also played at KXSU’s live studio, and were even recently covered by us for their concert with Palm and LVL UP.
