On Monday, November 13th Susanne Sundfør will be preforming with Shey Baba at The Triple Door in Seattle.

The Triple Door is a spacious, self contained lounge that seats 150. The lounge takes its name from The Triple Door’s dedication to music and the brilliant visual focus of the room, a stunning 1900-gallon freshwater aquarium just inside the entrance. If people watching doesn’t appeal, the fish watching is pretty fascinating. There is a comfortable mix of tables and booths, and even a bar inside.

Susanne Sundfør is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and record producer. Coming into the international scene like a rich, delicate mix of Stina Nordenstam, Depeche Mode, Tori Amos and Radiohead, Susanne Sundfør rose to fame in Norway in the beginning of 2005.

That same year she toured the country opening for English singer/ songwriter Tom McRae. In 2006, she joined Madrugada on tour, preforming their song Lift Me, a duet the band originally recorded in the studio with singer Ane Brun.

Late in 2006, she digitally released her debut single Walls, which climbed to number three in the Norwegian singles chart. Music For People In Trouble is her fifth “proper” album. It’s a stark and beautiful album, often stripped back to Sundfør’s wonderful voice accompanied by piano or guitar, and it was inspired by the fears Sundfør felt – for the world and for herself – in the wake of her last album. “Music for People in Trouble” is stern and simple and beautiful. “It’s not a very innocent record, is it?” she notes. “I don’t like bullsh*t, and I don’t like to pretend, and I think that comes through in the songs. The most important thing to me is that it’s honest, and this is a very honest album.” The album is a testimate to the power of solitude; it is a record that sounds like solitude, like the hours spent trying to figure out how to make one’s life better.
