ATEEZ is a dynamic and youthful K-pop group that burst onto the scene in 2018 with a high-energy style and adventurous spirit. Known for their electrifying performances and catchy tunes, these eight talented members—HONGJOONG, SEONGHWA, YUNHO, YEOSANG, SAN, MINGI, WOOOUNG, and JONGHO—captivate fans worldwide. ATEEZ was formed on October 24th, 2018, under KQ Entertainment, after the members were selected through a survival reality show called “Mix Nine.” Their music blends various genres, from pop and hip-hop to rock and EDM, creating a sound that’s uniquely theirs. With their cool choreography, infectious enthusiasm, and powerful stage presence, ATEEZ continues to rise as one of K-pop’s most exciting and promising groups. They even performed on the 2024 Coachella stage, as well as announcing a world tour that is starting in Tacoma, Washington!!!!!!!!!!

On May 31st, 2024, ATEEZ released a new album called, ‘Golden Hour: Part 1’ that features, “Golden Hour,” “Blind,” “Work,” “Empty Box,” “Shaboom,” and “Siren”. As my ULT group (favorite group), I had high expectations for this album, and, oh, I was not let down at all. From the announcement to the title track releases to the full release, I have been thoroughly fed WELL. The title track “Work” pairs with a music video (credited down below) that is genuinely the best thing I have ever seen. The cowboy theme, mixed with my bias, JONGHO being buried in the ground while playing the flute is just too good. An incredible blend of talent and creativity! The background vocals stand out as nothing short of amazing, perfectly complementing the main melody. A great feature is the clarinet sound that follows the main chorus, adding a unique and captivating layer to the song. The overall vibe from each member of the group creates a harmonious and energetic experience that leaves a lasting impression. From SAN giving gas backshots to an ostrich to HONGJOONGs iconic “make it purr” line, this song and video are so jaw-droppingly amazing.

The rest of the album is just as captivating, as it features some really cool songs. “Blind” is a catchy tune that makes me want to do an Irish jig. Its infectious rhythm and lively beats compel you to get up and dance. From the first note, you can’t help but tap your feet and move along to YUNHO’s irresistibly seductive vocals which draw you into the song’s depths with his alluring warmth. Next, “Empty Box” is a soulful sad song about missing someone and searching for a relationship with someone who is moving on. “Shaboom” which is a song that mixes Bob Marley’s style with a bit of Calvin Harris’ style. This song is essentially about shaking your butt in a club??? It is an absolute banger that had me twerking and doing splits on my living room floor. The infectious beat and high-energy rhythm make it impossible to sit still. From the moment it starts, you’re compelled to move, with its pulsating bass and catchy melody taking over your body. This track turns any space into an impromptu dance floor, leaving you breathless and exhilarated by the end. A must-listen for anyone in need of an instant mood boost and a serious dance workout!

Now, my personal favorite “Siren” is so good it will make you cry, and I don’t mean just a tear or two—I mean full-on ugly crying. JONGHO’s vocals are so powerful, you’ll need tissues on standby. Every note that JONGHO hits is with such precision and passion, that you might find yourself wondering how someone this amazing even exists. The chorus is so catchy it’ll get stuck in your head quickly. From the first listen, “Siren” grabs you and doesn’t let go, making it an unforgettable experience. Seriously, it’s so good you’ll probably need therapy afterward—musical therapy, that is. JONGHO’s performance is nothing short of awe-inspiring. His vocals are undeniably the best and most breathtaking!! MINGI, SEONGHWA, and WOOYOUNG are equally talented in this song, as they show off their skills as all-rounders by joining in on the pre-chorus and powerful rap verses. All of this mixed with the rap/whisper/chanting lines makes me want to jump onto a hamster wheel and run around for 2 hours.

If you’re a fan of rave music or enjoy the sounds of Lauv, this album is perfect for you. Its energetic beats and infectious melodies will keep you dancing all night long, while “Empty Box’s” heartfelt lyrics and emotional depth will resonate with fans of Lauv’s introspective style. Listen to this album for a journey that combines the best of both worlds and leaves you craving more. You can easily get your hands on this incredible album at major retailers like Target, Walmart, Amazon, or any K-pop store. Additionally, you can stream it on popular platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of ATEEZ or simply appreciate good music, this album is an absolute must-have. It’s worth every penny and is guaranteed to have you hitting the replay button on every ATEEZ song in a matter of seconds. With their undeniable talent and captivating sound, ATEEZ deserves all the recognition and praise they receive. But please, KQ if you’re reading this, give JONGHO the screen time he deserves, and YEOSANG the lines he deserves. As for now, make money, make purse!!!
