HWASA Gives Seattle a Taste of Diva and Mother.

Hwasa’s solo show in Seattle was everything I could have hoped for and more. The second she stepped on stage, it was over—she had the entire crowd screaming their heads off. Opening with “HWASA” and “Chili,” she set the tone immediately, radiating the kind of effortless chic that makes it impossible to look away. The venue was packed, sold out, and loud. Barking, screaming, chanting—there wasn’t a single moment of silence the entire night.

This was her first time in Seattle as a soloist, and she made sure everyone knew exactly what that meant. Even though she’s been here before with MAMAMOO (a girl group she is in with members Moonbyul, Solar, and Wheein), this was different. Performing at the Moore Theater, she made it clear– this was her stage, her moment, and she wasn’t about to let anyone forget it. She even threw in “HIP”–a nod to Mamamoo–at one point, sending the crowd into absolute chaos. Hearing that song live sent me over the edge and had me jumping up and down.

I ended up sitting behind two of the sweetest older women, and honestly, they were a highlight of the night. Every few songs, they’d turn to each other to talk about how stunning Hwasa looked, and in between performances, they were scrolling through photos of dogs (pictured below). It was such a cute contrast to the chaos happening all around us—people screaming at the top of their lungs while these two were having the funniest side conversation.

At one point, she played a video montage of herself exploring Seattle, a rare quiet moment before launching into a pop medley which included songs like, Diva,” Hung Up”, “Let’s Get Loud,” andToxic blended together so seamlessly it was almost disorienting in the best way possible. And then, in the middle of it all, she said it herself: “Hwasa is Mother”. No one disagreed.

Then came the moment that made half the crowd jealous—Hwasa started giving out gifts. She handed them directly to fans or asked them to meet her after the show in seats A1, Z11, and F3, making their entire lives in an instant. The reactions were priceless—screaming with absolute disbelief. Watching her interact so casually with the audience, like she genuinely wanted to give something back, just made it even more obvious how much she loves her fans.

And the dancers. The dancers…  They were INSANE. Every single one of them matched Hwasa’s energy, moving with such precision and power that they demanded the crowd’s attention. It never felt like she was carrying the show alone—they were right there with her, elevating everything. The chemistry was unreal. At some points, I found myself staring at the dancers over Hwasa, which just proves how talented Hwasa’s whole team is.

By the time she performed “Maria,” it felt like the show was over, but of course, it was a K-pop concert, so of course, there were many encores. First was I Love My Body,” which turned the venue into one massive celebration. Hwasa mentioned that this song is easy to misinterpret, but at the end of the day, it is about loving your body. Then, for the final song of the night, she threw in a cover of Lunch by Billie Eilish, which had everyone dancing as they were exiting the room.

When the lights finally came up, everyone just stood there, completely wrecked. The entire show felt like a fever dream in the best way possible. I walked in expecting a concert. I walked out absolutely in love and ready to give up everything to marry Hwasa. Give Hwasa a listen if you love any type of music because she truly can do it all, and she proved it tonight by performing a wide variety of songs. She truly is one of the most unique, beautiful, and talented performers out there, and she deserves all the recognition in the world.
