In Bed With Jason – The Comeback: Myles Kennedy at the Crocodile on May 3rd

Oh my goodness gracious, it has been a while. Ah, the KXSU Blog. Something feels just so right about being here. Back in my day, this fancy-shmancy website we’re currently on didn’t exist. Everything was mushed into a cozy little wordpress account. It’s (sniffle) so great to see (sniffle) how much we’ve all grown up (conclude sniffling).

“In Bed With Jason” was a column here just about two years ago. I explored a different musician ever other week that records their material exclusively from their homes and bedrooms. I found out about countless incredible artists whom I never would’ve heard of otherwise. This article is a little different, though.

Today, I’m looking at an artist that most certainly is not a bedroom musician. His name is Myles Kennedy.

The reason I feel like I have the right to include him in this revived column edition is because in middle school, I spent most every single evening listening to him… in my bedroom.

So, yeah, I guess that might have trouble holding up in court, but my lawyers are telling me to go for it anyway.

Myles Kennedy is a songwriter, based out of Spokane, who has spent the majority of his career fronting hard rock and quasi-metal bands like Alter Bridge and Slash & the Conspirators. He serves as the modest front-man, perfectly fitting the needs of those groups, utilizing his insane vocal range to hit everything from Guns N’ Roses songs to melodic Pink Floydian Alter Bridge ballads.

However, for the first time in his entire career, he’s touring by himself. Just him and an acoustic guitar. Him and the songs that he’s written. Him and everyone else.

On May 3rd, Myles Kennedy is performing his solo set at The Crocodile. When I see this show, I think I might actually pee myself. At the very least, I will have an all-encompassing moment of completing the circle, seeing myself as a graduating senior in college, and feeling the same emotions from his songs that I felt in my childhood bedroom all those years ago. And in that way, Myles Kennedy will in fact be… in bed with Jason.

Jesus, I’m a dork.

Myles Kennedy’s show at the Croc is unfortunately sold out. However, I encourage you to listen to his new solo album, Year of the Tiger.
