Tangerine @ Vera Project, 3:00 p.m.
Tangerine, a band familiar to KXSU, has spent the first half of 2016 touring the country with their wonderful newly-released EP, Sugar Teeth. Being on the road only strengthens the passion in their music. The sweet and refreshing surf rock lines by this Seattle-based pop-inflected trio perfectly fit with this weekend’s nice weather!
Lisa Prank @ Cha Cha, 3:45 p.m.
Lisa Prank gained a fantastic experience from collaborating with Childbirth at CHBP the year before last, and now she’s back again this year, but this time with her own material. She’s spent her past musical ventures touring with Tacocat and Chastity Belt, which has given her plenty of knowledge and exposure to the local Seattle music culture. She’s now a communal favorite for our mellifluous Seattle pop-punk fans.
Thunderpussy @ Main Stage, 4:45 p.m.
I’m not sure why Thunderpussy is scheduled for a Saturday afternoon set. As early as 2014, Thunderpussy had already won DO206’s “Best Live Show of the Year” award by a landslide. In my opinion, the Seattle super-group should be the headliner for Saturday. (Sorry, ODEZSA!) Molly Sides’ high-heat vocals and Whitney Petty’s sexy guitar riffs never fail to light up the atmosphere.
Car Seat Headrest @ Main Stage, 6:00 p.m.
Nominated as one of the “Best New Artists of 2016 (So Far)” by both Rolling Stone and NME, we do not need to discuss how promising Car Seat Headrest’s future is. Their new album, Teen of Denial, is the portrait of every confused teenager. It narrates the ups and downs of everyone’s futures, and the contradiction between self-love and self-loathing.
Boyfriends @ Cha Cha, 7:45 p.m.
Why the name “Boyfriends”? Well, this Seattle-based punk four-piece are actually related to Tacocat in both a musical and a romantic way. Three out of the four of these punk fellows actually have personal relationships with members of Tacocat. But, unlike Tacocat, Boyfriends is not content with pop or punk. They enrich their music with several different retro sounds, from 1970s glam punk to new wave scene.
