It’s a commonly known fact that most high school bands are destined to fail. It’s a harsh truth, but it makes sense to most that maybe your band just wasn’t meant to be if your drummer chooses medical school over your music.

However, this is very much not the case for Boston indie rock group Vundabar. Formed in 2013 by school friends Brandon Hagen and Drew McDonald and picking Grayson Kirtland up along the way, this trio has been making and performing ridiculously catchy alt-rock bangers for over five years now.

I saw Vundabar open for Joyce Manor on Halloween night of 2018, and all I can say about the night is that it was incredibly confusing. The majority of the audience was there to just to “mosh” (by mosh I mean push the limits of how badly they could injure the people around them without getting in trouble for it) and because of that, Vundabar truly didn’t get the respect that they deserved from the crowd.

I’m super excited to see the trio at their own headlining show so that they can demonstrate what they’re truly capable of in a live setting. Joining them is California indie trio the Red Pears, who you’re pretty guaranteed to enjoy if you’re already a fan of Vundabar.

The show is at my personal favorite venue in Seattle, The Vera Project, and tickets are still available here! Be sure to check out Vundabar and the Red Pears on Instagram as well as showing up for the show. Doors are at 7, see ya there!
